Tournament Reminder
Just a friendly reminder that our June fun tournament is taking place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. We wish all registrants the best of luck and hope that all attendees including visitors have a good time. Thanks to all of you who have volunteered to make this tournament a success! If any changes are required due to weather or prevailing smoke conditions during the tournament, all registrants will receive relevant e-mails; changes will also be posted on the SAPC Facebook page so, if you are planning on watching/attending and are concerned, look to Facebook for all the updated information.
Volunteer Thank You (from Eileen)
We were delighted to celebrate the volunteers from last Fall and Winter on May 31 st.
Before I begin I want to thank Art and Jeanine for their work in putting this together, let’s give them a hand!!!
A truly great volunteer is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget.
While each of you serve in different capacities for the club I want to thank you for the immeasurable valuable work you do for the club.
You are dedicated, hard working and full of energy as you continue volunteering. (please continue - WE NEED YOU!!)
Thank you for being on our team of amazing volunteers. Your awesomeness makes our pickleball world shine brighter.
We know you give so much of your time , again and again!
May you be proud of all the work you do and the difference you make - never underestimate the difference you make for our Club!
With deepest gratitude for your commitment to our club on behalf of the Board I thank you.
Waitlist Changes
As of May 2025, you can remove yourself from a waitlist for reserved play. Please do that whenever you become unavailable to play at the reserved play event.
If you remain on a waitlist, watch your email closely as you could get an email, right up to the event time, saying you are registered to play. This is because our system automatically registers people at the top of the waitlist whenever registered players cancel.
The easy steps for removing yourself from a waitlist are on this Reserved Play web page.
Mentoring Sessions
We hope to have some mentoring sessions this summer. It will be dependent on getting volunteers. Once the volunteers are in place then it will be a go. E-mails will be sent out to all eligible participants prior to the event. Please also note the following changes:
- It will require 2 stickers to take the mentoring sessions
- We ask that you only register for one session per summer; only if the session is not full, the day before the session, should you register again
Congratulations Eileen - What an Honour!!
As many of you will now we aware, our Club President recently received a huge honour. Eileen McClean was nominated by several Club members and, on May 30th, received the Volunteer of the Year award from Pickleball Alberta!!! Eileen was recently recognized for this honour by Jeanine Au at the Club's most recent Board meeting during which Jeanine gave the following speech:
It is a true honor to stand before you today as we recognize someone who has been much more than just a president to this club - someone who has been a leader, an organizer, a motivator, and a friend to us all. Eileen, for over 10 years, you have poured your time, heart, and energy into this pickleball club, helping it grow not only in size but in strength, spirit, and community.
Eileen you are the kind of leader that every club dreams of having! You are organized, dependable, solution-driven, calm under pressure and always ready to step up when something needs doing - usually before anyone else even notices it needs to be done - from making sure our court calendar is full and our games run smoothly, to welcoming new members when on the courts, attending all board and committee meetings , plus ensuring all the many things run smoothly behind the scenes.
But what truly sets you apart is your dedication. Even when you're supposed to be relaxing - whether it's on vacation or snowbirding in the winter - you never truly "take time off". No matter where you are, you are always just a phone call, text, or e-mail away. And you always answer! That kind of commitment is rare! You just don't hold the title of President - you live it...fully...completely...every single day! And you do it all with grace, a smile on our face and with a whole lot of patience, as we all know, it's not always easy!
Your energetic spirit and leadership is infectious and you've helped build a club culture that is welcoming, inclusive and fun, but more importantly you've helped shape this Club into a family! And your efforts have not gone unnoticed!
So on behalf of all of us here, every player, every volunteer, and every friend in this Club - we thank you!
Thank you for over a decade of service, leadership, and heart, you are a remarkable leader and have truly gone over and above for this Club!
As a small token of thanks we would like to present you with a new Club jacket and a gift card for you and Kevin to enjoy a night out as he has sacrificed lots of "undivided wife time" over the years. Enjoy!
